Four Products for Bunions

A bunion is a condition of the foot that causes the big toe to angle in towards the second toe –causing a large bump at the base of the big toe. As a result your foot widens –making shoes uncomfortable and causing pain or inflammation where the bunion is. While bunions cannot be cured with over the counter products, surgery isn’t always an option immediately and some products can help alleviate pain and discomfort. Many products are available for women only since bunions commonly affect women.

Aid Splint
A bunion aid splint is designed to hold the big toe in a straighter position. A bunion aid splint can be worn while sleeping to walking –however some people find the splint uncomfortable to wear while walking. If the splint is worn regularly it may help resist some of the soft tissue and reduce the pain and inflammation.

Night Splint
Bunion night splints are designed to be worn while you sleep, and are not designed to be worn while walking. A night splint is designed to realign the big toe and pull it back into its proper position. The bunion night splint can decrease the symptoms, eliminate pain and inflammation –but it does not offer permanent bunion correction.

Bunion Support Socks
A bunion support sock combines the features of a toe separator, a wider toe box to accommodate wider feet and bunions, as well an extra cushion on the sole of the sock. These socks can be worn while sleeping or while walking –they will help eliminate pain and help your feet feel more relaxed.

Bunion Sleeve
A bunion sleeve is designed to protect the bunion from bumping a shoe or causing friction. The bunion offers a protective layer that cushions the bunion, and prevents it from being irritated. Bunion sleeves come in multiple sizes to ensure the fit is comfortable.

When left untreated a bunion can become worse. If your bunion is causing you pain or discomfort, it’s important to seek treatment.
